LIVESTOCK INSURANCE

Cattle at Sunrise

Farmers can secure their investment by purchasing protection for their cattle when market prices decline. This proactive approach ensures financial stability and helps mitigate losses, allowing farmers to focus on what they do best—raising healthy livestock. By locking in prices, farmers can feel more confident in navigating unpredictable market conditions.

WHY LRP?

An LRP claim is automatically triggered when the Actual Ending Value (AEV) published by RMA is less than the coverage price on the insured endorsement.

2026 CLAIMS PROCESS

Step 1

Actual Ending Value (AEV) released.

Following the endorsement's end date, the Risk Management
Agency (RMA) will release the Actual Ending Value (AEV). This release typically occurs within 3 to 7 business days.

Step 2

Loss Notification - Once the AEV is released.

If a loss is triggered, the insured will be notified via a claim form, which will be sent by mail or
from the agent.

If no loss has occurred, a claim will not be generated.

Step 3

Collect Required Documentation

The producer must complete and sign the LRP Claim Form no later than 60 days after the end date.

Required Loss Documentation:

For Sold Fed Cattle and Swine, or Feeder Cattle:

Proof of livestock Ownership:
» Documents verifying the sale of all covered livestock during the insurance period or no later than 60 days after the end date of the insurance period showing:
› You as the seller
› The purchaser
› The date sold
› The weight of the livestock sold

For Feeder Cattle only that have NOT been sold:

» Documents verifying ownership of your share of the livestock insured
» A signed “Certification of Unsold Covered Livestock” form
» If you sell some of the insured Feeder Cattle and retain the remaining, we will need all the
documentation described in both sections above.

The contract must be signed before the insurance period begins.

This means you’ll need to have the livestock on hand for at least 30 days.

The livestock must be delivered at least 90 days before the end of coverage.

To get paid, you’ll need to show:
› A copy of the contract
› A delivery receipt
› Sale records

You can sell the livestock up to 60 days before the end date.

Step 3

Multiply the results of Step 1 and Step 2.

Step 2

Subtract the actual ending value from the coverage price.

Step 4
